Become a VCYA Intern !
What for
The purpose of VCYA's Internship Programme is to offer an opportunity for foreigners including students to :
- Work in a youth focused NGO in implementing the Needs and MDG goals of our country
- Provide an insight in the various research tools and at the same time learn manage other kinds of data involved in any research work.
- Gain a deeper understanding of working with youth on reproductive health information campaigns in secondary and tertiary schools
- Provide an opportunity to get firsthand knowledge about the challenges faced by PLWHA, and in addition get to know people who are also affected by it and various processes and campaigns where VCYA is involved.
- Be a part of the institution building team and interact with other team members.
- Present outputs in public forums on the web and in print.
- Have a working holiday
Whats required
VCYA provides internship opportunities to qualified foreigners with a keen interest in the reproductive health and youth empowerment through skills acquisition worldwide.
Internship applicants should have -
- A Graduate or student in any subject but with an understanding of social issues, development activities, knowledge about HIV/AIDs would be communicated to the participant without previous knowledge
- Knowledge of the key sociological, and political terminology, which are related with a Research Project - previous experience in some kind of research / campaign / advocacy work would be good.
- Possess good communication skills and English
- Proficiency in the Computers - comfortable with working on web
- Hardworking, interested in both detail and the larger picture, willingness to learn, methodical, and determined; and -
- Pleasant and easy-going in character.
How long
Internships can last for a period of a few weeks to one year.
Where
Interns will be based in VCYA Office in Lagos Nigeria but can be sourced out to other NGos, Hospitals, Goverment parastatels and Government agencies that they agree to work with. Also they will be occasionally required to travel in the city and in the Country.
Whats on offer
We encourage the interns to manage their own expenses, because VCYA is still in its forming years and is trying to raise the resources. However, we will provide all possible help in settling down in the city, accomodation and feeding when working with some designated agencies/organisation.
